figure sketch 36 w/value experiment
Live figure drawing enhanced with straight black/white/gray in photoshop in order to punch up the values. I know I'm weak in establishing good values in my drawings. In painting, I rely on color a lot and I know what I make often looks flat. So, might as well start facing it head on.
Looking at it now, I think I over rendered the face too much.

Ink wash is definately a weak point for me -It ties into my problems with contrast.

Technique Experiment
Just an experiment with multimedia - just a standard image to practice with.
One of the things I learn by documenting my progression through an image is where I lose things as I work on something. For instance, looking at it now, I notice that as I progressed, the small gesture of the arms got flattened or stiffened, then lost altogether. Nothing to stress over for this piece since the technique is what it's about, but something to keep in mind in the future.

Final - Digital touched up.
Step 3 -Quick Conte, Chalk & gouche mess over the ink
Step 2 - Horribly messy ink - used permenant ink (boo) and it all got out of control fast, but oh well
Step 1 -The inital quick pencil sketch to start
